Honouring the Migrant Worker in Our Home

In today's fast paced society, some families are employing migrant workers as domestic helpers to allow them to better manage the demands of family work and household responsibilities. 

Some families see their domestic helper as just an employee. While some families honour and treat their domestic helpers as someone who is a part of the family. 

Cases of employers mistreating or taking advantage of their helpers have made the news recently, but yet we have also heard of stories of many helpers integrating well with families and becoming much loved members of the family.

In this special Giving Week episode of the ParentEd podcast, our host Aaron Ng chats with Jeannie Cheong about her family's experience with their helper, Lyn, and how the family rallied together to work on a family fundraising project to honour and encourage her, as she returned home to start her own family.

Jeannie is a stay-at-home mum of 3 young children aged 6, 4 and 2 years old. Besides the daily school and home routine, she also runs Tiny Seeds Bookshop, an online bookshop, with specially curated books for children.

Jeannie and her husband, Jason, recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary! They both enjoy spending time outdoors and love reading to their children.
