How to Say Sorry and be a Safe Space for Our Children - ParentEd

Episode 44

How to Say Sorry and be a Safe Space for Our Children

No human being is perfect and it is only natural to expect that we will make mistakes in our relationships, especially the ones closest in proximity. How can parents create a safe space for our children to be real and unafraid to express both their joys and struggles with us?

Joining our host, June Yong, are husband and wife, Mark and Sue Lim. Over candid stories, they share about how they built a family culture of saying sorry authentically, guiding their children in emotional vocabulary and growing together with love and acceptance as fellow human beings.

Mark and Sue are educators and counsellors. They operate their own training consultancy, The Social Quotient, which conducts training in schools and other institutions, in issues related to mental wellness and special needs. Mark & Sue have been married for almost 14 years and have two sons, aged 9 and 11. They also co-write a parenting blog, Parenting on Purpose.

Parenting is not a single sojourner’s path. If you are struggling to provide the support you feel your child needs in specific areas, our team at Focus on the Family Singapore is available to listen and journey with you. For more details on parent-coaching, visit www.family.org.sg/parentcoaching.
